1 min readGovernor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that serving humanity is equivalent to serving God in Indian philosophy. He praised Tonglen Charitable Trust founder Bhikshu Jamyang and his team for dedicating their lives to uplifting slum children and their families, inspiring society.
At the 20th anniversary celebration of Tonglen Charitable Trust in Dharamshala, Governor Shukla lauded the trust’s holistic education approach, transforming lives of underprivileged children. He cited examples of children who went from begging to becoming doctors, engineers, and professionals.
Governor Shukla commended Tonglen’s anti-drug campaign and its healthcare services, including free clinics and mobile health units. He honored advocates Ranjit Singh Rana, Vijay Lamba, and Anita Sharma for social service.
Monk Jamyang thanked the Governor, citing Dalai Lama’s inspiration for educating impoverished children. Tonglen has launched vocational training centers.
Lady Governor Janaki Shukla and Tonglen UK trustee Bridget also attended the event, which featured cultural performances by Tonglen school children.
