THDC India Limited Achieves Milestone with Synchronization of Unit#1 at Khurja Super Thermal Power Project
2 min readRishikesh: 28-10-2024: THDC India Limited, a Mini-Ratna Public Sector Enterprise, has reached a significant milestone in its journey towards enhancing India’s Power generation capabilities. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, CMD THDCIL informed that Unit#1 of the 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) has successfully synchronized with the National Grid on 28th October, 2024, marking a pivotal advancement in THDCIL’s commitment to the thermal power sector. The Coal firing was also achieved within a few hours of oil synchronization.
He praised the dedicated efforts of the KSTPP team, emphasizing that this achievement is a crucial step in expanding THDCIL’s footprint in the Thermal Power domain, thereby contributing to India’s Energy self-reliance.
“Synchronizing Unit#1 is not just a technical accomplishment; it symbolizes our commitment to bolstering India’s power generation capacity,” said Sh. Vishnoi.
Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) highlighted the project’s importance, and mentioned that with this achievement Khurja Super Thermal Power Project will start playing a vital role in providing base load power, thus ensuring a continuous and reliable electricity supply especially during peak demand periods and when renewable energy resources are variable.
THDCIL’s strategic entry into the thermal power sector, announced a few years ago, complements its existing renewable energy assets. This balanced and sustainable energy portfolio is designed to meet the growing energy demands of the nation while ensuring energy security. On this significant occasion, Sh. Kumar Sharad, ED (Project), along with senior officials including R.M. Dubey, GM (Electrical), and Sh. B.K. Sahoo, GM (O&M), were present to celebrate this milestone. The event was also attended by the NTPC Consultancy team, led by M.K. Asthana, ED (NTPC Consultancy), as well as representatives from various agencies including BHEL, LMB, STEAG, and GE.
