Focus on Development Instead of Blaming BJP for Financial Crisis: Jai Ram
1 min readJwalamukhi: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent statements on financial discipline, accusing him of diverting attention from his own shortcomings by blaming the former BJP government. Thakur stated that Sukhu’s frequent policy changes and tax hikes have created confusion and frustration among the public. He also raised concerns about the state government’s mounting debt, claiming that over ₹30,000 crore in loans have been taken within two years, adding to the financial burden on the state.
Jai Ram further commented that Sukhu’s promises to make Himachal Pradesh debt-free by 2027 and one of the most prosperous states by 2032 are unrealistic, given the current economic mismanagement. Thakur urged the Chief Minister to focus on development rather than indulging in daily political rhetoric.
Additionally, Jai Ram expressed grievances over widespread public discontent with the current administration, with various employee groups, pensioners, and unemployed youth reportedly dissatisfied with government policies.
In Jwalamukhi, Thakur visited BJP leader Pawan Rana’s residence to offer condolences for the recent passing of Rana’s brother, accompanied by local party leaders.
