ICI Shimla Centre Awards 2024 Honor Excellence in Engineering and Architecture

The Indian Concrete Institute awarded eminent professionals of Engineering and Architecture on October19, in Shimla.
Indian Concrete Institute is a non-profit Organization dedicated to the cause of Disseminating Knowledge on Concrete, Promote Concrete Technology and Construction and to address the Research Needs of Concrete, said VPS Jaswal, Chairman of the Shimla Centre. To meet the objectives of ICI, its regional Centres conduct various programs like Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Exhibitions, etc. throughout the year at National and International level, Jaswal told. These events prove to be a unique platform, for all the stakeholders in the concrete industry, wherein Practicing Engineers, Manufacturers, Academics, Consultants and Researchers make their global participation, to discuss the issues, to share their views and experience on the concrete related matters.
Jaswal further informed that like previous years, the Shimla center of the ICI organized ICI-UltraTech Structure Awards 2024 at Shimla on 19th October 2024. Dr Shrikant Baldi, Chairperson -H.P. RERA was Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Baldi emphasized the importance of sustainable development and stressed that if we don’t plan our cities especially in hilly areas in could be devastating in coming times. He further added that we have already witnessed this during 2023 monsoon. Smt. Uma Baldi also graced the occasion with her presence. Smt. Urmila Baldi is a name synonymous with social work in Himachal Pradesh, who has been working relentlessly over the past 31 years for the upliftment and welfare of society’s needy and downtrodden.
Eminent Architects and Engineers from the region who have designed and executed the famous buildings and projects have been selected for the various awards, Jaswal said. The awards included Life Time Achievement trophy, Young Technologist Award etc. he added.
A Jury of members from the industry had selected the awardees, he said. Jury members for the awards were as following: –

NHPC s HRT of Parbati Project awarded in Infrastructure Category
Last year, Er. Sunil Grover, Former MD (SLDC) HPSEB and Ar. R P Vaidya, former Chief Architect HPSEB were awarded in the Structure and Architectural Category with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Speaking on the occasion Ar. V P S jaswal Chairman ICI Shimla center emphasized the need on planning integrated with geological mapping considering the sinking of buildings and sinking zones in Shimla as well as in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. He also mentioned that various activities like seminars and expert lectures and awareness programmes are being conducted by ICI Shimla centre on regular basis.
