From Begging to Healing: Pinky Haryan’s Inspiring Journey to Becoming Doctor

1 min read

Pinky Haryan, a young girl from Dharamshala, has transformed her life from begging on the streets to becoming a doctor. Once, as a child, she begged alongside her mother near the Buddha Temple in McLeodganj, seeking to satiate hunger. Her life took a turn in 2004 when Tibetan refugee Jamyang, a follower of Buddha’s compassion, adopted Pinky along with other street children through his organization, Tong-Len Charitable Trust.

Jamyang enrolled Pinky in a school, and in 2018, he helped her secure admission to a prestigious medical university in China. After completing her six-year MBBS degree, Pinky has returned to Dharamshala and is now ready to serve patients as a doctor. Her story is a testament to resilience and the power of determination.

Tong-Len works to uplift displaced Indian communities in Dharamshala, focusing on providing access to basic human rights. Pinky’s journey, from a child begging for survival to a doctor, serves as an inspiration to many, proving that with determination, nothing is impossible.
