2 min readUnder the able-guidance and assistance of theatre director Sanjeev Arora, the School Team from GSSS Kadaur, Shogi, participated in skill-building exercises as well as rehearsals were conducted today in the school premises. Despite coming from underprivileged backgrounds, the participating students, have shown remarkable talent and eagerness to learn, adds Arora. With minimal exposure to theatre, these students demonstrated a strong understanding of theatrical concepts, making them potential future stars. This festival continues to be a celebration of culture and young talent, fostering a love for storytelling and theatre among students.
The upcoming Children’s Theatre Festival – An Inter-School Hindi Drama Competition, is set to take place from September 27th to 29th, 2024, in Shimla. Organized by the Keekli Charitable Trust, this event aims to promote Himachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage by showcasing stories by local writers through student performances. The festival will feature 15 city schools, focusing on skill-building and providing a platform for children to explore their theatrical talents. The event will be graced by renowned actors Sohaila Kapur and Sushmita Mukherjee, who will attend the opening and closing ceremonies as chief guests. The core team, comprising personalities like Sh Srinivas Joshi, Amala Rai, and Jawahar Kaul, has been instrumental in sharing important inputs for organizing the festival, along with the dedication of creative directors assisting all the school teams.
It is pertinent to mention that without the support of our sponsors and partners — Department of Language and Culture, Himachal Pradesh; SJVN Limited; Sood Sabha Shimla; Abhivyakti; BlissBites; Brews & Books Cafe and media partners Himachal Tonight and Keekli – this event would not have been possible. The organizers also extend their heartfelt gratitude to the anonymous donors for their support.
As the festival approaches, there is a sense of excitement and anticipation for a memorable event that will enrich the participants and honour Himachal’s cultural heritage.
