Raises Concerns Over Financial Burden on Employees
Shimla: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jayaram Thakur, expressed his deep concern over the delay in salary disbursement to state employees. He highlighted that for the past two days, employees have been anxiously waiting for their salaries, constantly checking their phones for updates. Thakur pointed out that this unprecedented situation has left employees in distress, as they struggle to manage their household expenses, loan installments, children’s fees, and rent without their salaries. He questioned the state government’s claim of no financial crisis, asking why salaries are not being released if the financial situation is stable. Thakur urged the government to clarify when the salaries and pensions will be credited to the employees’ accounts, stressing that employees rely solely on their wages to support their families.
Thakur also emphasized that employees have significant financial commitments, including loan EMIs, credit card payments, rent, and utility bills, which are typically due in the first week of the month. He warned that failing to meet these obligations could result in penalties and additional financial charges, further burdening the employees. Thakur urged the Chief Minister to provide a clear timeline for the disbursement of salaries to prevent further hardship for the state’s employees.
