Financial Crisis Deepens in Himachal as Congress Government Prioritizes Allies Over Public Welfare: BJP’s Bihari Lal Sharma
1 min readBJP state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma criticized the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of mismanaging the state’s finances while creating lucrative positions for close associates. Sharma pointed out that despite the state’s deteriorating financial situation, the government has appointed six parliamentary secretaries, more than ten friends with cabinet rank, and over a hundred chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, members, and advisors, adding a significant financial burden on the state.
He highlighted a recent government notification that increased the honorarium of board chairpersons from ₹30,000 to ₹1,30,000, calling it a clear indication of the government’s double standards. On one hand, the Chief Minister talks about foregoing salaries, while on the other, such decisions show favoritism towards close associates.
Sharma also criticized the reappointment of retired individuals, calling it a betrayal of the youth and an additional financial strain on the state. He condemned the government’s actions, especially at a time when public welfare schemes like free open-heart surgery at IGMC have been halted due to unpaid bills under the Himcare and Ayushman schemes.
