Apple Farmers Struggling Amid Record Price Drop

Shimla, August 27: BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta has voiced serious concerns over the sharp decline in apple prices, leaving apple growers in Himachal Pradesh distressed and frustrated. He criticized the Congress-led state government for its negligence and inefficiency, stating that the lack of control by the state government and APMC over the markets has allowed traders and buyers to exploit the situation by purchasing apples at rock-bottom prices.
Bragta highlighted that for the first time in the history of apple trade, prices have plummeted by a record ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 within just two days, a significant drop compared to the usual ₹100 to ₹200 fluctuation. He demanded immediate government intervention to ensure that apple farmers receive fair prices for their produce.
Expressing disappointment, Bragta also criticized Congress ministers and MLAs from apple-growing regions for their silence on the issue, despite the party’s election promise that farmers would determine the prices of their produce. He accused the Congress of misleading farmers and emphasized the numerous achievements of the previous BJP government under the leadership of former Horticulture Minister Narendra Bragta, who had made significant contributions to the apple farming sector.
