APG Shimla University Hosts Anti-Ragging Awareness Event
1 min readShimla, August 14 – APG Shimla University observed Anti-Ragging Day with an awareness program organized by the School of Legal Studies and Research. The event featured speeches, writing competitions, short plays, and documentaries to address the issues of ragging and substance abuse. Senior Civil Judge Vijaylakshmi from the State Legal Services Authority of Shimla was the chief guest, providing legal insights on the harmful effects of ragging and substance abuse.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajender Singh Chauhan emphasized the university’s strict stance on ragging and the importance of maintaining a safe academic environment. Judge Vijaylakshmi highlighted that ragging disrupts the educational environment and infringes on individual rights, stressing that addressing this issue is a collective responsibility involving institutions, society, and families. She also underscored that ragging is a punishable offense under the Indian Penal Code.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to participating students and a discussion addressing students’ concerns about ragging. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students from various departments attended the program.
