Shiv Pratap Shukla stresses on better coordination with masses

During the Special Session on the second day of the Conference of Governors held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, today, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla gave his presentation on the role of governors in connecting with the common people and better use of means of communication and better coordination between central and state level institutions.

Shukla said that it has been his endeavour that the Raj Bhavan should remain in the role of Lok Bhavan and there should be continuous dialogue with the people on various issues while redressing their problems simultaneously. The Raj Bhavan was opened to the general public on every Saturday and Sunday so that the people could come and meet the governor besides take a stroll in the premises of the Raj Bhavan.

Citing example of his visit to the border areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti, the Governor narrated that he was made aware of some local problems by the army officials, which were asked to be resolved through the local district administration without delay. He said that during visits to the districts, it was also ensured that the implementation of all the schemes and works was in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central and State Government.

The Governor said that he also held discussions with those deriving benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes besides giving directions to the officers to redress their grievances. “We use to receive the genuine demands wherein assistance was provided by the Red Cross and through district administration as well. He said that it was after the initiative of the Raj Bhavan, the participation of the common people has increased during district and State-level events like plantation drive, cleanliness program, Nikshey Mitra etc.
