Old Schemes Should Continue If New Ones Aren’t Introduced, Says Chief Minister

Shimla: Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, criticized the Sukhu government for discontinuing various schemes initiated by the previous BJP government. He highlighted the discontinuation of schemes like Himcare, Sahara, Social Pension, and the Grihani Suvidha Yojana. According to Thakur, these schemes were popular among the people and their abrupt termination has caused significant distress, especially in healthcare.

Thakur emphasized that stopping the Himcare scheme has forced hospitals to halt treatments due to unpaid dues, leaving people to struggle for their healthcare needs. He argued that the Himcare card provided a sense of security, allowing people to access treatments for serious illnesses like cancer without financial burden. Thakur accused the Sukhu government of being insensitive and prioritizing other expenses over public welfare.

Additionally, Thakur warned that this is just the beginning and predicted further discontinuation of BJP-initiated benefits. He noted increased examination fees and potential cuts in electricity subsidies and free bus rides for women.

In a separate event, Jairam Thakur met with Central Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi. They discussed developmental issues concerning Himachal Pradesh, and Khattar assured full support for the state’s development.
