Shyamala Trust Plants One Thousand Trees on Gol Pahadi

“Nature is Our Mother; Its Protection and Conservation is Our Responsibility” – Nitin Vyas

Shimla – Under the “A Plant in the Name of a Family” plantation drive, one thousand trees were planted on Gol Pahadi in Kaithu, Shimla. The initiative was led by Sunil Upadhyay Educational Trust, Shyamala Educational and Social Welfare, Aryavart Educational Welfare and Charitable Society, and Press Relation Society of India, Shimla Chapter. The residents of Shimla district participated enthusiastically, planting trees with their families and pledging to protect the saplings.

The program was chaired by Professor Nitin Vyas, with Professor Nagesh Thakur as the chief guest. Professor Nitin Vyas, president of Shyamala Educational and Social Welfare Trust, urged everyone to not only plant trees but also ensure their survival. He emphasized the long-term commitment required for the saplings to mature, underscoring the importance of continuous efforts for nature’s preservation and enhancement for future generations. Professor Vyas expressed pride in the youth’s voluntary participation, which highlighted the collective enthusiasm towards achieving the goal of a “Green Shimla.”

In his address, chief guest Professor Nagesh Thakur emphasized the Indian tradition of environmental conservation and harmony with nature. He narrated the story of a bird trying to extinguish a forest fire with drops of water to inspire everyone to contribute to nature’s protection. Professor Vyas extended heartfelt thanks to all dignitaries present and praised their efforts.

During the campaign, 200 Deodar, 150 Baan, 300 Khanor, 100 Mohru, 100 Bottlebrush, 100 Chulli, 50 Walnut, and 50 Beeyus saplings were planted. The event was attended by former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Professor Surendra Sharma (Secretary, Sunil Upadhyay Educational Trust), Lalit Thakur (Secretary, Aryavart Educational Trust), Dr. Rakesh Sharma (ABVP State President), Dhandev Thakur (State Organization Minister), Rohit Sharma (Treasurer), Akash Negi (State Minister), along with all ABVP office bearers, social workers, and local residents.
