CM Jairam Thakur Questions Himachal CM on Utilization of ₹25,000 Crore Loan

Shimla: July 22, 2024

Speaking to media representatives after the swearing-in of MLAs in the Legislative Assembly, former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, demanded that the current Chief Minister explain the utilization of the ₹25,000 crore loan taken in the last one and a half years. Thakur emphasized the opposition’s role in keeping the government on the right path and opposing any anti-people and autocratic decisions. He stated that while the BJP would support the government on issues beneficial to the public, it would also raise its voice against any arbitrary actions.

Thakur criticized the government for not providing relief to disaster-affected families and for delays in releasing examination results, which has led to protests by youths. He urged the Chief Minister to fulfill the election promises made by the Congress party.

In response to questions about the loan, Thakur pointed out that despite taking such a substantial amount, development projects in the state are stalled. He contrasted this with his own tenure, during which, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, no employee’s pay was cut, and various development projects continued.

Thakur also accused the current government of halting numerous beneficial schemes initiated by the previous administration, including those for youth and farmers.

Additionally, Thakur congratulated the newly elected MLAs, wishing them success in their roles.
