Kargil Vijay Diwas to be Celebrated with Fervor on Ridge Maidan: Deputy Commissioner

Shimla, July 11, 2024 — The 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated with great enthusiasm on July 26 at the historic Ridge Maidan. The event, organized by the district administration in collaboration with the Sainik Welfare Department and the Army, will pay tribute to the martyrs of Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap, while presiding over a meeting on the matter, stated that if weather conditions are unfavorable, the ceremony will be held at Gaiety Theatre. Efforts will be made to include a special parade and weapon exhibition by the Army on the Ridge Maidan. The district administration aims to celebrate this event on a grand scale.

Kashyap mentioned that families of Kargil martyrs and ex-servicemen will be invited and honored during the ceremony. Schools and colleges will also organize programs to ensure the younger generation remembers the sacrifices of the martyrs and is inspired to serve the nation. He highlighted that Kargil Vijay Diwas represents the true spirit of bravery, patriotism, and selfless national service.

Today’s meeting was the first to discuss the event’s planning, with a follow-up meeting scheduled for next week to finalize the program’s details.

Present at the meeting were Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Ajit Bhardwaj, Assistant Commissioner Gopal Chand Sharma, officials from the Sainik Welfare Department, and other staff members.
