Ministers Refute BJP’s Misinformation Campaign Against Congress Government
1 min readShimla, 28th June 2024 – Education Minister Rohit Thakur and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh have strongly criticized BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and State BJP President Rajiv Bindal, for spreading misinformation about the stability of the Congress government. They accused BJP leaders of baseless allegations and said their actions reflect their inability to accept defeat in the recent assembly bye-polls.
In a joint press statement issued from Shimla today, the Ministers mocked Jai Ram Thakur’s aspirations of forming a BJP government, reminding him of the stable mandate given to the Congress government by the people. They highlighted Congress’s success in winning four seats in the recent bye-elections, demonstrating the party’s growing popularity among voters.
The Ministers dismissed claims that 15 Congress MLAs were in touch with Jai Ram Thakur as mere propaganda. They clarified that the Chief Minister’s wife’s candidacy in Dehra was due to the Congress high command’s direction and a survey reflecting people’s expectations.
Responding to BJP’s nepotism allegations, they pointed out the hypocrisy, citing MP Anurag Thakur’s political lineage. They also criticized the previous Jai Ram government for economic mismanagement, corruption, and neglect of farmers and employees.
Under Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, the current Congress government has launched welfare schemes benefiting various societal segments and fulfilled five out of ten electoral promises, much to BJP’s discontent.
