Sanjay Awasthi Asserts Congress Majority to Strengthen After By-Elections

State Congress Working President and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi has confidently stated that the number of Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh will rise to 41 following the three upcoming by-elections. He dismissed former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur’s assertion that the BJP would form the government after these by-elections as unrealistic and akin to “Mungerilal’s dreams” that never come true.
Awasthi emphasized that the Congress government already holds a clear majority. Out of six by-elections, Congress has emerged victorious in four, currently holding 38 seats, which is more than the majority requirement. Therefore, the BJP’s claim of forming the government post the three by-elections is misleading and factually incorrect.
Awasthi urged party workers and the public to be vigilant against any misinformation from the BJP. He assured that the Congress government in the state is strong and will successfully complete its tenure. He criticized the BJP for ruining the political careers of three independent MLAs, claiming they would no longer win with BJP support.
Addressing party officials from Nalagarh, Hamirpur, and Dehra blocks, Awasthi urged them to remain steadfast in the electoral field and monitor any misuse of money by the BJP. He instructed that any such incidents be reported immediately to the state Congress headquarters’ war room and the party election in-charges appointed by the Pradesh Congress Committee for appropriate action. Awasthi affirmed that the BJP would not be allowed to undermine democracy and that the public’s mandate remains with Congress. He concluded by asserting that the Congress government will only become stronger following the results of these three by-elections.
