People don’t want PM Modi, Shah to run this country: Rahul Gandhi
2 min readNew Delhi, June 4 : Calling the Lok Sabha results as ‘people’s victory, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that people don’t want Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to run the country anymore.
He thanked the people of the country and said that they have sent a clear message through the mandate that they don’t want Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in running this country.
Addressing a jam packed press conference at the AICC headquarters here which was also attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi said, “We fought this election not just against one person or one party but against the governance system of the country, the institutions like the CBI, IT and ED which were captured by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister”.
Thanking the people of Uttar Pradesh, the Senior Congress leader said that the people of the state have now understood the politics of the country and came out in large number and voted for INDIA bloc.
Stating that this election was a fight to save the Constitution, Gandhi said, “When the Modi government froze our bank accounts, put our Chief Ministers in jail, broke up parties. I was sure and it was in my mind that the people of the country will not tolerate this and unitedly fight for their Constitution. And this proved out to be true”.
When asked about whether he would stake claim to form the next government, the former Congress President said, “We are going to have a meeting of INDIA bloc tomorrow and these questions will be raised there and a decision will be taken. We respect our alliance partners and we cant give any information to the media without a meeting with them”.
On a question of retaining one of the two Lok Sabha seats, Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of Wayanad and Rai Bareli and said that he has not yet decided which seat he will retain.
