Shimla Woman Falls Victim to Mumbai Scammers; Fraud Case Registered

Shimla: In a shocking incident, a young woman from Shimla has been targeted by scammers operating from Mumbai. The Shimla police have registered a case in this regard. According to the police, the fraudsters managed to obtain loans worth lakhs in the name of the Shimla woman. The victimized woman resides in Sanjauli, a suburb of Shimla. The perpetrators executed this fraud while sitting in Mumbai during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The affected young woman, who was facing hardship during the lockdown, was living in Mumbai. The scammers got hold of her new debit/ATM card details and linked mobile numbers associated with the bank. The fraudsters misused the debit card, obtaining a loan of over three lakh rupees.

As the loan installment remained unpaid for an extended period, the bank administration sent a notice to the woman to repay the loan. This notice prompted the woman to realize the fraudulent activity. Upon discovering the scam, she filed a case of cheating against unidentified individuals at the Dhalli Police Station in Shimla. The police are currently investigating the matter.
