Cabinet Subcommittee Meeting on Regularization of SMC and Computer Teachers Held

Shimla, February 7: A Cabinet subcommittee meeting was convened at the Shimla Secretariat to discuss the regularization of State Managed Cadre (SMC) and computer teachers. Chaired by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, the meeting included committee members such as Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh and Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, along with officials from the relevant departments. The committee has prepared its report, presenting three to four recommendations that will be deliberated in the Cabinet meeting before the final decision is made.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur emphasized the government’s commitment to formulating a permanent policy for SMC and computer teachers. While the Cabinet subcommittee has put forth several suggestions in its report, the ultimate decision will be taken in the Cabinet meeting. The government is also seeking legal advice on the matter, considering that the case has been brought before the High Court and Supreme Court. In this context, the government is firmly in favor of the teachers’ rights, and a decision will be made expeditiously.
Meanwhile, on the other front, rotational fasting by SMC teachers continues, and starting from February 8, SMC teachers have also decided to go on a pen-down strike. The teachers state that the agitation will persist until the government makes its final decision.
