Shimla Winter Carnival Set to Kick Off with Grand Opening Ceremony

Shimla, Dec 24 : The Shimla Winter Carnival, scheduled to be celebrated from Christmas to New Year, is set to commence on Monday. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu will inaugurate the carnival at 2:30 PM. The inaugural ceremony will be attended by Rural Development Minister Aniruddh Singh, Urban MLA Harish Janartha, and Mayor Surender Chauhan. The first day’s main attraction will be the magnificent Nati performance on the Ridge Ground, featuring over 500 women from self-help groups dancing together.
Following the Nati performance, a cultural parade will take place, showcasing artists from various districts presenting their talents. Several cultural programs will also be presented at the Gaiety Theater in the evening. Additionally, 35 stalls by local businesses will be set up at the Ridge Ground. On Tuesday, various cultural programs, including the Voice of Shimla, are scheduled.
The Winter Carnival, which started with Christmas, is expected to attract a large number of tourists to Shimla. Hotel bookings in the city are already underway in anticipation of the surge in visitors.
Shimla Adorned for Carnival
Shimla has been beautifully decorated with colorful lights for the Winter Carnival. A large stage has been set up on the Ridge, where various events will take place. The Ridge Ground and Mall Road have been adorned with vibrant lights, and entrance gates have been installed at different locations. Students of fine arts have showcased their paintings at various places.
Mal Road features a selfie point, and fountains will be operational at the Ridge and Scandal Point during the carnival, as per Mayor Surender Chauhan.
