Shimla, December 18: The 1325 computer teachers serving in the state’s government schools for the past 23 years are bewildered by the recent orders issued by the Education Department. The use of the term “termination” was initially employed when referring to those completing 58 years, but upon discussion with the department, the language in the communication was revised, acknowledging the error, as stated by Rakesh Sharma, the State President of the Himachal Pradesh Computer Teachers Association.
President Rakesh Sharma stated that the government had approved a salary increase of Rs 2000 for teachers during the budget session. For this purpose, the Chief Minister and the Education Minister issued directives to the Education Department’s director, Dr. Amarjeet. However, the government’s orders have been overlooked. Sharma mentioned that the High Court has also directed the merger of computer teachers into the Education Department, but the department’s officials are seemingly disregarding court rules.
The association emphasized that education department officials should promptly formulate a comprehensive policy in line with the Chief Minister’s directives; otherwise, computer teachers in Shimla are prepared to stage protests outside the Education Directorate’s office to draw attention to their concerns.
