Nahan, November 21: The renowned six-day International Renuka Fair in Sirmaur district is set to commence on November 22 with a grand procession of Lord Parshuram. In an announcement, the Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta stated that the formal inauguration of the fair would be conducted by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania.
The inaugural ceremony will take place at 1:20 PM, with the divine procession of Lord Parshuram scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM. Following this, a puja and archna will be performed at the Parshuram Temple, followed by the inauguration of developmental exhibits. The formal commencement of the International Renuka Fair-2023 will take place at 5:30 PM on the Renuka Stage, where the Speaker will address the gathering.
Harshvardhan Chauhan, Minister of Industries, will also be present at the inauguration ceremony. He is expected to arrive in Nahan today and join the divine procession at Renuka in the afternoon.
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that the fair, known for its cultural diversity, attracts a significant number of devotees and visitors not only from the district and the state but also from other states. To ensure a vibrant entertainment experience, the fair will feature six cultural evenings with performances by artists from the film industry, Punjabi and Himachali folk artists, and renowned Himachali singers.
Local and state cultural heritage will be showcased in live performances, providing an opportunity for attendees to witness and appreciate the rich cultural tapestry. The fair will also host cultural performances from neighboring states, including Punjabi Bhangra, Haryanvi Ghoomar, Rajasthani Kalbelia, Uttarakhand Holi, and Haryana Veer Dhaiya.
The International Renuka Fair is known for its grandeur and attracts pilgrims who consider bathing in the holy Renuka Lake on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima as significant. Special arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the people participating in the sacred bath on November 27, Kartik Purnima. The fair will conclude on the same day with the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, presiding over the closing ceremony at 4:00 PM.
