Shimla, November 13: Utkrisht Mahavidyalaya Sanjauli has been awarded an A-plus grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This makes Sanjauli College the first government college in Himachal Pradesh to receive this distinction. The college has achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.47 from NAAC, a significant improvement from 2.63 in 2017.

Dr. Bharati Bhagda, the college principal, attributed this achievement to the hard work of the staff and students, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that led to this grade. A team of three members from NAAC visited the college last month, expressing satisfaction with the institution’s overall performance. The college had high hopes of receiving a better grade from NAAC, especially after the previous visit in 2017, which resulted in a B-plus grade.

Additionally, the team recommended various improvements, including starting postgraduate courses, initiating vocational courses, strengthening internship programs, enhancing skill development courses, and establishing a language lab. Addressing these recommendations, the college has been offering postgraduate courses in English and Hindi for three years, and approval has been obtained from the university to introduce PG classes in Economics and Public Administration.

Moreover, the college currently runs three vocational courses—V-Voc, BBA, and PGDCA—and has introduced three new vocational courses: PG courses in Economics and Public Administration and a language lab.
