Chandigarh University Dominates First National Marvel Media Fest at Shoolini University

The School of Media and Communications at Shoolini University celebrated the successful conclusion of its inaugural National Marvel Media Fest 2023, which took place on Saturday. This two-day event showcased diverse talents in the field of media, attracting participants from institutions across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Chandigarh University emerged as the overall champions of the fest.

Universities such as Chandigarh University, Kurukshetra University, Chitkara University, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), and Shoolini University competed in a wide range of categories, demonstrating their students’ skills and creativity. The competitions encompassed various areas including photography, anchoring, documentary filmmaking, advertising, captioning photographs, quiz, mobile journalism, radio jockeying, scriptwriting, skit performances, digital art, and poster design.

The event commenced with an address by Shoolini University Chancellor Professor P.K. Khosla, who emphasized the significant role journalists play in society. The blessings of Professor Khosla marked the beginning of this remarkable event, setting the stage for two days of intense competition.

Pro Chancellor Mr. Vishal Anand stated that the inaugural National Marvel Media Fest at Shoolini University has set a high standard for future events, promoting creativity and excellence in the field of media and communications.

Special invitee Mr. Sanjiv Arora, Chief Advisor for International Affairs at Shoolini University, encouraged students to uphold values of honesty and hard work in the media profession and strive for prestigious positions in the field.

Veteran journalist Mr. K.S. Tomar, former chairman of Himachal Public Service Commission (HPSC), was the Chief Guest, while serial entrepreneur and author Mr. Kunal Nandwani was the Guest of Honour for the valedictory event. Mr. Tomar shared valuable insights, highlighting essential traits for budding journalists, including perseverance, commitment, and an outgoing spirit. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good relationships with sources and advised against ego, citing it as a hindrance to success in journalism.

Prof. Vipin Pubby, Director of the School of Media and Communication, extended a warm welcome to all the guests.

The competitions, which took place at different venues across the campus, were evaluated by an esteemed panel of external judges, including Shashwat Kaushal, Misha Bajwa Chaudhary, Lalit Sharma, Vivek Mohan, Neha Sharma, Joshua Kanwar, Vivek Atrey, Shikha Sood, Amit Rey, Avin Sharma, and Kunal Nandwani, along with judges from Shoolini University, including Ashoo Khosla, Neeraj Kumar, Nishtha Anand, Indu Negi, and Ankur Bashar.

Ashish Khosla, President of Innovation and Technology at Shoolini University, emphasized the importance of preparing for success, while Guest of Honour Mr. Kunal Nandwani provided valuable insights into the evolving world of AI and automation during an engaging fireside chat with Nishtha Anand.

Chandigarh University excelled in various events, including Ad Mad, MoJo, Theatrical Act, Radio Jockey, Quiz, Script the Picture, and Bang Bang Photo Caption, Digital Art, and Poster Making. Shoolini University secured the first position for the documentary category, while GNDU won the Anchoring category, and Chitkara University achieved victory in Photography and Stand-Up Comedy.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Nishtha Shukla Anand, Trustee and Director at Shoolini University, who expressed gratitude to all participants, coordinators, and contributors for making the Marvel Media Fest a resounding success and encouraged students to continue organizing such events to gain practical knowledge.
