Nahan, October 19: The rural self-employment training institute (RSETI) in Sirmaur has partnered with UCO Bank, a leading bank in the district, to carry out various skill development programs aimed at empowering the youth of the district’s below poverty line (BPL) families. These training programs, offered through RSETI, are entirely free and are designed to enhance the self-reliance of individuals from underprivileged backgrounds.

Amita Sharma, the Director of RSETI Sirmaur, stated that these training programs benefit young individuals, MGNREGA job cardholders, BPL ration cardholders, and women from self-help groups. The objective of the institute is to inspire rural youth from impoverished families to become skilled and self-reliant, ultimately integrating them into the mainstream of society.

RSETI Sirmaur conducted 21 training programs in various sectors throughout the last fiscal year. These programs trained a total of 547 young men and women in apiculture, dairy farming, tailoring, garment design, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and banking, among other businesses, turning them into self-employed individuals who strengthened their household’s financial stability. Notably, 70% of the trainees initiated their own employment, contributing to their family’s economic well-being.

For the financial year 2023-24, UCO RSETI aims to train 660 candidates through 23 training programs in the district. The training programs cover a range of sectors including silk production, beekeeping, tailoring, textile design, mushroom cultivation, beauty parlors, and more. The rural self-employment training institute provides separate accommodation and food facilities for male and female students.

Application Procedure:
Young individuals aged between 18 and 45 from rural BPL families are eligible to apply for RSETI’s training programs. Applications can be submitted at the institute’s office located near the Rajkiya Audyogik Prashikshan Sansthan on the Shimla Road. The training programs are conducted under the guidance of RSETI’s state director and UCO Bank’s top management.

The district’s RSETI staff plays a vital role in providing training to eligible youth, fostering awareness programs to guide young individuals towards skill development, helping them attain self-reliance, and encouraging them to acquire expertise in various businesses, ultimately enhancing their chances of becoming self-sufficient.
