SJVN, under the leadership of Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, has received Letters of Intent from Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) to supply 1000 MW of solar power. JKPCL aims to purchase 600 MW, and RUVNL is interested in acquiring 500 MW, all at a tariff of Rs 2.57 per unit. This power will be sourced from the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Project, with allocation governed by Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to be finalized shortly.

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma explained that these PPAs will be executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, which is actively developing the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Project in Rajasthan.

The honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, laid the foundation stone for the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Project on January 3, 2023. SJVN had previously awarded the single largest EPC Contract for this significant project, amounting to Rs. 5491 crores, to M/s Tata Solar Power Systems Limited.

“This project is on track for commissioning by June 2024, involving an investment of Rs. 5491 crores,” mentioned Sh. Sharma.

He further outlined the expected power generation, with 2455 million units anticipated in the first year and a cumulative total of about 56838 million units over 25 years. Additionally, the project will contribute to a reduction of 27,85,077 tonnes of carbon emissions.

SJVN, a prominent CPSU operating under the Ministry of Power, has a robust commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio. This aligns with the Government of India’s green energy transition objectives. The company is steadfast in achieving its mission of 12,000 MW by 2026 and shares the vision of reaching 25,000 MW by 2030, with a long-term goal of 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
