Fatal Accident on the Manali-Batote Highway: Driver Killed as Vehicle Plunges into Ravine

Chamba, October 8: A tragic accident occurred on the Manali-Batote highway, resulting in the loss of a life. A government jeep, on its way to collect rations for a government depot, met with an accident and plunged into a deep ravine.

The deceased has been identified as Yakub, a 24-year-old resident of Palyur. He was en route to Batote from his village when the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon. The vehicle suddenly went out of control and fell into a deep chasm near Khaddal.

Upon witnessing the vehicle’s plunge into the ravine, local residents immediately rushed to help. The local police team from Bharmour station also arrived at the scene promptly. With the assistance of the locals, the police managed to retrieve the driver’s body from the ravine. Fortunately, there were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Upon receiving news of the incident, the driver’s family was informed. In their presence, the police sent the body for post-mortem examination at the Bharmour hospital.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this time. The police are currently recording statements from eyewitnesses to understand the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the accident. The family of the deceased is in mourning following the incident. Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Yadav, confirmed that the accident had claimed one life and stated that the police are actively investigating the case.
