Wildlife Week : Workshop on Wildlife Photography and Species Identification Held
2 min readShimla, October 6th, 2023 – In celebration of Wildlife Week, the Wildlife Division of the Forest Department organized a workshop on wildlife photography and species identification at the Conference Hall of Talland Shimla. The workshop aimed to educate field officers and officials about various techniques for documenting wildlife and plant species.
The workshop commenced with an inaugural ceremony presided over by Mr. R. Lalnan Sanga, Additional Chief Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. Mr. Anil Thakur, Additional Chief Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, highlighted the importance of wildlife photography and the recording of bird and plant species in the conservation of wildlife.
Mr. Abhinav Kumar, a renowned wildlife photographer from India, provided insights into various techniques of wildlife photography to all participants. He emphasized the importance of photography and videography in documenting wildlife and its habitats.
Dr. Anil Thakur, a specialist in wildlife flora, enlightened all participants about the various methods of identifying and recording plant species in the wild.
More than 40 participants actively engaged in the workshop. The program was graced by the presence of Mr. Dev Raj Kaushal, Chief Wildlife Warden Shimla, Mr. Anish Sharma, Deputy Chief Wildlife Warden, Mr. Ravi Shankar, Deputy Chief Wildlife Warden, Mrs. Renu Sahajpal, Wildlife Circle Shimla, Mr. Praveen Sharma, Wildlife Division Officer, and Mrs. Sheetal Sharma, Wildlife Division Officer, and other officers and staff from the Wildlife Division.
The workshop provided valuable insights into wildlife photography and species identification, equipping field officers and officials with essential skills to contribute to wildlife conservation efforts. It served as a meaningful event during Wildlife Week, promoting awareness and appreciation of India’s diverse wildlife.
