Una: BJP Leader Arrested for Alleged Lewd Acts with Minor Girl

Una, October 5, 2023: A senior BJP leader, aged 82, has been arrested on charges of engaging in explicit activities with a minor girl. A video depicting the inappropriate behavior went viral, leading to his arrest. The accused BJP leader had previously served in government employment and had been actively associated with the BJP after retirement.
The complaint was filed by the mother of the minor girl, prompting the Gagret police to register the case at the Una Women’s Police Station. The police have invoked the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act against the BJP leader.
It is reported that the minor girl, who is not of legal age, had visited the BJP leader’s shop. During her visit, the BJP leader allegedly initiated inappropriate behavior, which was captured on video by an onlooker outside the shop.
The video subsequently went viral, leading to the mother of the victim becoming aware of the incident. She lodged a complaint with the Gagret police station on Wednesday morning. The Gagret police have now transferred the case to the Una Women’s Police Station for further investigation.
Sanjeev Bhatia, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), confirmed the registration of the case under the POCSO Act against the accused BJP leader and his subsequent arrest. Further legal action is underway as the investigation continues.
