District-Level Under-19 Student Sports Competition Concludes

Shimla, September 29 – The District-Level Under-19 Student Sports Competition, spanning four days, concluded today at the Government Senior Secondary School, Datnagar, Rampur. The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Rural Development, Youth Services, and Sports,  Vikramaditya Singh.

In this competition, a total of 705 participants from 15 zones across the district took part. Vikramaditya Singh, in his address, emphasized the paramount importance of physical development alongside education. He stressed that teachers and parents should encourage children to participate in sports to combat the rising issue of substance abuse among the youth in the state.

Mr. Singh highlighted the state government’s efforts to promote sports by increasing the sports quota in government jobs from 3% to 5%. This initiative aims to benefit underprivileged and rural youth by providing them with more opportunities.

Additionally, he assured the establishment of a Science Block at Government Senior Secondary School, Datnagar, before the Chief Minister and the filling of vacant teaching positions in the region to ensure quality education is available to students at their doorstep.

Mr. Singh also pledged to make the Datnagar Sports Hostel available for athletes soon, providing modern facilities to the state’s players. He announced the establishment of a C.A. Store in the area through HPMC (Himachal Pradesh Marketing Corporation) to support the region’s farmers and horticulturists economically.

Regarding the establishment of government colleges in the Jyuri area, the minister assured that this issue would be a top priority to extend the benefits of higher education to the youth in 15-20 remote areas.

Furthermore, Singh underscored the state government’s commitment to helping families affected by disasters and extending all possible assistance to them in their time of need, as part of the government’s humanitarian efforts.
