Mandi: Construction Work on Saroa School’s Science Building Remains Stalled for a Year**

Mandi, September 7: The construction work of the Senior Secondary School Saroa’s Science building has come to a halt for the past year. Due to this, schoolchildren are unable to benefit from science labs and other facilities. The construction work began three years ago and so far, 80% of the work has been completed, with 20% remaining. However, the contractor responsible for the work has left it incomplete.

Principal Ramesh Chand stated that there are 28 students in the 11th and 12th classes who are studying science subjects in their school. The information about the cessation of construction work has been conveyed to department officials. The Head of SMSC, Jhabe Ram, mentioned that he has repeatedly urged the Public Works Department to start construction work but it has not commenced yet. Local resident Jhabe Ram stated that if the department does not start construction work soon, then everyone will gather and stage a protest on the streets.

Additionally, 12th-grade student Paridhi Thakur and 11th-grade student Devendra Kumar explained that due to the absence of a science lab, they are facing difficulties in performing practical experiments, etc. They have appealed to the government to complete the construction work as soon as possible and prepare the science lab.

On the other hand, Lok Nirman Vibhag’s Executive Engineer in Janjehali stated that the contractor working on the construction has been served a notice to provide reasons for the work not progressing. Construction work will be initiated soon.
