Himachal: Recent Incidents & Road Closures due to Heavy Rainfall

Late on Sunday night, a cloud burst resulted in a devastating landslide in Solan district. The torrential rain triggered a calamity in Malbe, where two houses and a shelter were washed away. This incident claimed the lives of five individuals, while three others remain missing. Fortunately, a rescue team managed to save five people. Moreover, several highways and roads have been closed due to landslides.
As per the information received from the Solan Police Control Room, a cloud burst incident occurred in the village of Jadon Dakghar. This resulted in the sweeping away of two houses and a cow shelter. In the nearby village of Jadoan, the houses of Rati Ram and his son Haranam were damaged due to landslides. Tragically, seven people have lost their lives in this incident, including four men and three women.
The deceased individuals include Haranam (38), Kamal Kishor (35), Hemlata (34), Rahul (14), Neha (12), Goloo (8), and Raksha (12). A woman named Kanta Devi suffered a broken leg and was sent for treatment, while five others are in stable condition. This information was provided by SDM Kandaghat, Siddharth Acharya. In the neighboring village of Jabal, five animals lost their lives due to the collapse of a cow shelter.
In Himachal Pradesh, the havoc of rain and floods has claimed the lives of 257 people so far. Landslides and tree collapses have led to road closures in various areas. The Dharamshala-Shimla road remains blocked near Dagshech. A significant landslide has occurred in the Dhatoh village of Ghumarwin constituency, prompting authorities to evacuate some houses.
In addition, the Bareri Road near Daddla Mode has been closed due to a landslide. Traffic was diverted from Daddla Mode to Navgaon Bari on Sunday, and now even the Navgaon Bari Road near Solan is closed. The path has been disrupted due to the fall of a tree in Lhasa. Vehicle drivers will need to take the Jabbal Pul Link Road to reach Ghagas from Kharasi.
In Lal Kothi, Shimla, there is a fear of people being trapped due to landslides caused by the monsoon rains. Furthermore, the Berry Road has been closed at Dadla Mode due to a landslide. The situation is being closely monitored by Indradutt Lakhanpal, the legislator from Badsar.
The condition of roads in Shimla city is dire. The Chitkara Parking, Chitkara Park Road Block, and Fagli-Khali Road are all closed. The Shimla-Shogi-Mehli Road is blocked. The Lalpani Bridge is closed. The Himalaya-Bambla Road near Edward School is also obstructed. The Vikasnagar-Chhota Shimla route is shut, as is the Vikasnagar-Panthaghati route near CID Office. The road bifurcation from Tuti Kandi to ISBT is also blocked.
A cloud burst occurred in Mandi’s Majhbadd Panchayat. Two individuals are trapped in the sludge, while some remain missing. The area has experienced heavy rainfall, causing devastation. In Tiyunkhas Tiyuri village of Ghumarwin, a landslide occurred at night, leading to the evacuation of around 11 families.
The situation in Himachal Pradesh remains challenging due to continuous rainfall and its resulting consequences.
