Governor flagged off 10th HP Police Half Marathon
2 min readShimla, June 25 – Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today flagged off the 10th HP Police Half Marathon-2023 organized by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the historic Ridge Maidan, Shimla.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that despite the heavy rain, the enthusiasm shown by every section of the society against the menace of drugs through this 10th Half Marathon was commendable. Children, youth, senior citizens and physically challenged people also participated in this race with the message of the evil of drugs, which was a matter of satisfaction, he said and added that this effort of the police department would certainly prove effective in taking this campaign of “Run for Drug-free, Safe and Green Himachal” to every household.
He said that the dignity of Devbhoomi would be restored and drugs would be eradicated. He praised the efforts of the state government in this direction and said that now every section of the society needs to be a part of such awareness campaigns strongly, only then we would be able to wipe out drugs from the society. He called upon the people to contribute to making Himachal drug-free and extend support to every campaign against drugs. He administered an oath to the participants to stay away from drugs.
The Governor also inaugurated the exhibition put up by the State Police on the occasion.
Additional Director General of Police, Satwant Atwal, who is also looking after the additional charge of Director General of Police, welcomed the Governor and gave detailed information about the 10th Half Marathon.
The tourism department has also cooperated in this half marathon organized by the police department.
