Hamirpur, Jan 11 – The Himachal Pradesh staff services commission located here is in acute crisis. The commission stands suspended after the exposure of a paper leak racket in the JOA (IT) paper and its working is proved by the Special investigation team of the HP Vigilance bureau.
The employees and officers of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission have not been able to get their salaries for the month of December 2022 due to a paper leak of the commission’s recruitment examinations.
The Deputy Secretary of the Commission is vested with the powers to release salary and other financial benefits in the Commission, but the government has removed the Secretary and the Deputy Secretary of the Commission.
Hamirpur ADC is managing the working of the Commission as its OSD in addition to his other duties.
Insiders in the state government view that the commission is going to be merged with the HP public service commission with its Hamirpur office to be the sub-office of the commission.
Presently, the commission has four members including a chairman and they are sitting idle these days as the commission stands suspended.
HP Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhoo who belongs to Nadaun area of Hamirpur district is personally taking a keen interest in the past working of the commission and has given free hand to the SIT of Vigilance bureau to complete the investigations within sixty days, the time he has given to the people of the state to restart the recruitment process.
There are about 60 employees serving in the commission. Apart from this, the chairman and four other members of the commission are also deprived of salary and allowances.
There are reports that the OSD, Jitendra Sanjta has written a letter to the state government regarding the release of the salary to the entire staff. The reply of the government in this regard is awaited.
Meanwhile, the SIT continues to grill the accused in the paper leak case. The judicial custody of the three accused Ajay Sharma, Nikhil Azad and Neeraj Kumar in the recruitment paper leak case has further been increased by fourteen days by a local court.
Whereas, four other accused including Uma Azad are also in judicial custody.
The Vigilance department is engaged in probing the properties of Uma Azad and broker Sanjeev Kumar.
The Vigilance bureau has so far arrested eight persons in the case including Uma Azad, the main accused who is the senior assistant working with the commission.
The investigation report of the laptop and photocopier recovered from Uma Azad’s house was sent to Forensic Science Lab, hard disk recovered from broker Sanjeev Kumar’s institute is yet to come. Vigilance is also waiting for the report of its investigation from FSL.
The SIT is also questioning the former secretary of the commission Dr Jitendra Kanwar on a day-to-day basis so that he may divulge anything worthwhile. However, nothing concrete about his involvement in the paper leak case has so far come to light.
