JUIT: 3 Days Annual Sports Fest Concluded

Solan, Oct 09 : It was day two of the annual sports event Parakram being held by JUIT where 5 Universities from different regions were participating to showcase their skills and win it all. The event kicked off with the first match being girls volleyball. The girls team from IIT Ropar matched up against JUIT and took a comfortable win.

Next aligned was Men’s Volleyball where the audience saw a clash between IIT Ropar team against Chitkara University where Chitkara University earned the bag.The next match showcased between Baddi University and JUIT and the second match being Chitkara University, Baddi and Chitkara University, Punjab with the first match going to JUIT and the second to Chitkara University, Punjab.

Parakram then saw JUIT and Manipal University of Jaipur rivalling in a very close game of basketball where Manipal University won by just a single point. It was then time for the clash between Team Manipal and Team Baddi where Baddi University won by a mile. JUIT also faced PEC (Punjab Engineering College) in an even game of basketball with the former turning up as winner. It was then time for the girls basketball match with Manipal University coming on top against Baddi University girls.Next up was football in which Chitkara University won the semifinals against team JUIT leading them to the finals but then eventually losing to Bahra University making Team Bahra the winners. The students then witnessed the intellect game of chess where Chitkara University won the finals and were crowned 1st place with JUIT falling short for 2nd. It was then time for table tennis where JUIT faced Manipal University of Jaipur with the latter becoming the winner. Last up was badminton where JUIT faced PEC in a close game and also won the match.

All the finals took place on the third day. The volleyball(boys) Chitkara University, Rajpura won with JUIT, Waknaghat being the runners up. In volleyball(girls) IIT Ropar bagged the win with JUIT Waknaghat again as the runners up. For football, Bahara University won and Chitkara University, Baddi were the runners up. In table tennis, for boys IIT Ropar won with Manipal University, Jaipur came as the runners up and for girls, JUIT won with Manipal University Jaipur again as runners up. In chess, for boys, Chitkara University, Baddi stood first with JUIT, Waknaghat as the runners up, and for girls, Manipal University, Jaipur came first with IIT Ropar as runners up. For basketball, boys, JUIT, Waknaghat won with Baddi University were the runners up, and for girls,  Manipal University, Jaipur came first with JUIT, Waknaghat as the runners up. In badminton, for boys, PEC won and Chitkara University, Baddi were the runners up, and for girls, JUIT, Waknaghat bagged both the first and the second positions from Team A and Team B.

The prizes were distributed by Prof.(Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor JUIT and Major General Rakesh Bassi(Retd.), Dean of students. The closing remarks were given by Prof.(Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Sharma and with the hard work of the organising team of JUIT Youth Club and all the participants PARAKRAM came to a successful conclusion.
