Shoolini literature society invited Mr. Satish Khot from Pune to discuss his recent collection of short plays titled “Exits and Entrances”. Along with Mr Khot, his team of book-lovers and theatre aficionados also participated in the discussion. Mohini Khot, in particular, Professor of English, seems to have influenced the structure and temper of the plays that were discussed, particularly references to the absurd drama of Samuel Beckett.
“It’s never too late to start, to be what you always wanted to be,” – this is what Satish Khot believes in and the discussion with him clearly brought out his beliefs. In conversation with him was Prof Tejnath Dhar who highlighted many important aspects of his plays. Other faculty members of the department of English, Hemant Sharma, Navreet Sahi, Purnima Bali, Neeraj Pizar, etc, joined in the discussion which was followed by the reading of an excerpt from one of the plays, “Manto and the Dhoban” by Sunita and Chetan Shetty. The director of the play, Anub George, was also present and spoke of his experience while directing Satish Khot’s play.
Prof. Manju Jaidka, Dean School of Liberal Liberal Arts, Shoolini University, announced that next week there will be a hybrid poetry session in which Prof Roshan Sharma from Dharamshala will read some of his poems.
