Shoolini university is organising a one-day event on “Brainstorming on State of Environment Report- Himachal Pradesh”, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Science and Technology, Himachal Pradesh from Tuesday.
State of the Environment Reports (SoER) are intended to provide decision makers and the public with credible, timely, and easily accessible information about the state of the environment. Based on the Pressure, State, Impact, and Response Model, the Department of Environment, Science, and Technology of Himachal Pradesh, produced the last SOER for the state in 2010, which has recently been updated.
The purpose of the session is to discuss issues and challenges raised in the SoER. and to identify gaps in the data base used in SoER.
The themes of the session are agriculture, horticulture, and land use Biodiversity and forests, Pollution, natural disasters, and climate change, water resources, health and wellness industries, tourism and culture, transport, and communication.
The brainstorming session will comprise a series of plenary panel discussions led by relevant experts and former VCs from different universities. Its overall goal is to bring together representatives of all stakeholders to share experiences and engage in comprehensive discussions on emerging environmental issues, including gaps and challenges, for achieving sustainable development goals. The brainstorming session is expected to conclude with recommendations highlighting key environmental issues raised during the panel discussions, which will be submitted to the Himachal Pradesh government for implementation.
