1 min read

Shimla, 4 December ; On the fourth day of Winter School being organized at IIAS Shimla, Professor Jagbir Singh, in his resourceful deliberation on “Arthayaama” highlighted the dharma-centric or rather yoga-centric economic system, focusing on the ideals of economic transactions, he chooses to discuss the welfare thoughts of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay in consonance to the perspectives of Sikhism. He urged the present day Indian society to read its inherent meta-narrative centred on Dharma and calls India a “civilization state” not a nation-state. Prof. Singh stated that the narratives of Brahminical domination are false narratives. Positing the Sanatan tale of creation (Dakh Prajapati’s narrative) Prof. Singh stressed on the need to know the ideas of human welfare propagated in our scriptures and religious “Panths”. He quoted Guru Nanak, Guru Arjan Dev, Guru Teg Bahadur and the like and regarded the “Gyaan” parampara to modern day economic welfare.
