Three Days Workshop on Geometrical Theorems

HP Council for Science, Technology & Environment in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science &Technology (PSCST) is organizing three days workshop on Geometrical Theorems at Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, Parimahal Shimla -9.w.e.f 27th October to 29th October,2021.

Mathematics is considered as a difficult subject by many students. The approach of teaching math is abstract and the conventional system of Math teaching conveys rituals and procedures which is not easily understandable by the students. The students often find it difficult to understand and comprehend Mathematical theorems and as a result, lose interest in the subject.

The Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) under its Science and Math Outreach Program has come up with a innovative module which makes understanding of difficult geometrical theorems much easier  and meaningful. The module has been developed by Sh. Gurmeet Singh, a National Awardee teacher from Punjab.  He has developed a devices for which 3 patents have been granted to him.

In order to train school mathematics teachers of Himachal Pradesh, the Himachal Pradesh Council of Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) in association with PSCST is organizing a 3-day National Level Training Workshop on visual explanation of geometrical theorems at Health & Family Welfare Training Centre, Parimahal, Shimla from 27th to 29th October, 2021. 30 School teachers participating from different districts arross Himachal Pradesh would be trained through the patented kit. This National Level Workshop is sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The workshop will be inaugurated in the presence of  Sh. Sat Pal Dhiman, Joint Member Secretary of HIMCOSTE on 27th October. The valedictory function will be graced by Sh. Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, IAS, Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE and Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director of PSCST on 29th October, 2021. The participants of the workshop will receive the complete Mathematics kit for use in their schools to promote and popularize Mathematics among students in an interesting manner. The students of 6th   to 10th standard studying in Governrment and Private schools across the state will be directly benefited in developing their understanding and interest in the mathematics subject.
