Governor interacts with farmers of Shamshi area in Kullu district

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar visited Seribehar of Shamshi Panchayat in Kullu district on Saturday and interacted with the progressive farmers of the area who practise natural farming.

On the occasion, the Governor said that the experience of farmers who were practising natural farming was an inspiration for others.  He said that farmers were getting the benefit of this practice by reducing the cost and increasing the income.  He said that the experienced farmers must guide others to adopt this method of farming.  He said that farmers were the ‘karma yogis’ in the true sense.

Shri Arlekar said that natural farming was the need of the hour as it was our traditional method of farming.  He urged the farmers to co-operate in fulfilment of announcement of the Prime Minister, to make Himachal Pradesh the first natural farming state in the country.  He said that this practice was not ancient anymore and information was now available to every farmer.  He appreciated the efforts of the farmers of Shamshi area.

The farmers shared their experience with the Governor.

Later, the Governor also visited the farm area and evinced keen interest in natural farming.

Executive Director, Subhash Parlekar Natural Farming Dr. Rajeshwar Chandel welcomed the Governor on the occasion and briefed about various aspects of this farming. He apprised the Governor about the development activities under the project.

Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg appreciated the initiative of the farmers and assured to provide all possible assistance in expanding the activities.
