Belletristic, the literary society of the Department of English, Shoolini University, organised a discussion on the novel “The Tale of a Beleaguered Soldier” by Professor Tej Nath Dhar.
Professor Dhar who has worked as professor at Srinagar, University of Kashmir, has published and written extensively. He has edited 12 books and hundreds of articles and reviews. In the Belletristic session he discussed his novel which is a multi-dimensional narrative that centres round a character whose active and passive association with people and events unravels Kashmir’s tangled history. The book is epical in its scope and yet manages to compress the cultural and political history of Kashmir within a little more than 200 pages.
The session began with the brief introduction about the novel by professor Tej Nath Dhar.
The format of the discussion was conversational: a dialogue between Professor Manju Jaidka and Professor Tej Nath Dhar where the former asked questions about the theme, message, framework, and structure of the novel.
